Self Draining Pool in Chandigarh!!!

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Chandigarh is known to be the only planned city in independent India..But its very strange that UT Administrator S.F. Rodriguez, who has make chandigarh’s  landscape and the most appalling is an artificial lake which is developed at a cost of Rs 3.2 crore in Sector 42 of the city, the so-called ‘lake’ is a stagnant pool with no water supply of its own. This lake has to be filled with potable water time to time, spread over 3.5 acres..

Soon after the three-foot-deep artificial lake was constructed, the administration realised that there was a seepage problem in its concrete base. The water just wouldn’t stand and an embarrassed administration had to fill it with potable water from municipality tubewells. But barely a few hours after the lake is filled with water, it would seep out, leaving the lake dry most of the time..This is quite embarrass for Chandigarh administration..Well this lake is known as “NEW LAKE” made in June, last year for the public view but in actually this lake is a type of duplicate as it has to be filled with municipality tubewells.. Most of the times it remains dry…
