GNPS register exhilarating win

Chandigarh: Opener Jaskaranvir played an breezy knock of unbeaten 81 runs to enable Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 snatch an exciting four-wicket victory with one ball to spare against DAV Senior Secondary School C, Sector 8, team in the Under-19 Inter-School Cricket Tournament for Adviser’s Cup held at St John’s School in Sector 26, here, today.

Batting first DAV ‘C’ scored a total of 146 for 3 in allotted 25 overs. Openers Harpreet (17) and Maninder (20) scored put up a 33-run stand for the first wicket. An undefeated knock of 70 runs by Robin Singh and his 51-run association with Vaibhav Garg (10) were best feature of the DAV innings. Robin and Satsurmukh (18) were involved in unbroken 43-run association for the fourth wicket as DAV ‘C’ made 146 for 3.

In reply, GNPS-36 made 147 for 6 in 24.5 overs. Opener Jaskaranvir who remained not out on 81-ball 81 contributed to the victory. Jaskaranvir played the sheet anchor’s role and also kept the scoreboard moving. He hit nine boundaries. Only aganvir (18) and Nikhil (12) were the other main scorers.
