Panchkula: With Panchkula SP Sandeep Khirwar all set to strongly pursue paid parking in the city, the city may soon introduce the system on the pattern of Chandigarh to tackle the ever increasing problem of parking.

Khirwar has directed his officials to strongly take up the matter with the DC, Neerja Shekhar and the Municipal Council so that the system could be put in place as early as possible.

“As the problem of traffic and parking is taking up an ugly shape in the city, various traffic control steps are being taken by the police. One of the major ones among them is the system of paid parking,” said Khirwar.

He said, “It would be only after a survey that it would be ascertained as to where all the system needs to be put in place. We may not go in for paid parking in all the city sectors but only where it is required the most like sectors 7, 8, 9, 11 etc.”

However, for MC president Manvir Kaur Gill, paid parking is too early to be imposed on the city residents.
