chandigarhChandigarh is well known for its cleanliness and its discipline which is liked by the young generation…The tourism of chandigarh has surveyed that in future chandigarh will be uploaded by foreigners because the number of tourists are increasing day by day… Here the beautiful places like Sukhna Lake, Rose Garden, Rock garden are the most attractive places which attracts tourists from all over in India as well as  from foreign countries also..According to the foreigner reviews we can say that this city is fully maintained and here gardens are beautifully designed in covering large space….

But in coming years it is also expected that there must be chances of lot of traffic and pollution as population is increasing here day by day and it is observed that most of the foreign students have been settled here only because of its neatness and hygiene but if this increasing traffic will remain like this only then there must be loss to tourism of chandigarh……Students from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and as well as from foreign also comes in this city for their further studies………

Self Draining Pool in Chandigarh!!!

Chandigarh is known to be the only planned city in independent India..But its very strange that UT Administrator S.F. Rodriguez, who has make chandigarh’s  landscape and the most appalling is an artificial lake which is developed at a cost of Rs 3.2 crore in Sector 42 of the city, the so-called ‘lake’ is a stagnant pool with no water supply of its own. This lake has to be filled with potable water time to time, spread over 3.5 acres..

Soon after the three-foot-deep artificial lake was constructed, the administration realised that there was a seepage problem in its concrete base. The water just wouldn’t stand and an embarrassed administration had to fill it with potable water from municipality tubewells. But barely a few hours after the lake is filled with water, it would seep out, leaving the lake dry most of the time..This is quite embarrass for Chandigarh administration..Well this lake is known as “NEW LAKE” made in June, last year for the public view but in actually this lake is a type of duplicate as it has to be filled with municipality tubewells.. Most of the times it remains dry…

Railway budgets of punjab are illusionary and discriminatory!!

Today Parkash Singh Badal, chief minister declares Union Railway budget for 2010-11 describing it as “another instance of sheer discrimination and gross injustice meted out”…According to Parkash, the railway budget given by minister Mamta Banerjee is completely “insensitive” towards the need of the border state..

He said that even the progress on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana link sanctioned by IK Gujral government had not been mentioned in the budget despite state government’s repeated reminders to Centre for early completion of this project. The budget had also not taken care of the state’s pending demand to sanction another Western freight dedicated Rail Corridor Mumbai-Delhi to Amritsar via Ludhiana to give fillip to the industrial sector in general and the agro based in particular, he said.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda has welcomed the budget.. He said that they appreciate this decision and said furtherthat the Ambala Cantt railway station has been identified as a world class station in the budget.

Chandigarh government school toppers get laptops..

In a one-of-its-kind morale booster for government school students, Chandigarh’s education department has awarded laptops to two Class 12 toppers - one a student in a city government school and the other a rural school student.

Laptops have been awarded to Pankaj Kumar and Lakshay Manchanda, toppers in the government school category in village and city, respectively.

Lakshay was a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS) in Sector-16 and scored 94.6 percent in the commerce stream in Class 12 and Pankaj Kumar, a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Mani Majra town, scored 88 percent in the vocational stream in Class 12.

“It came as a surprise to me when I came to know that the administration is awarding a laptop to me. I knew that I will secure good marks but I had never thought of topping in the entire city,” said a jubilant Manchanda.

“I have taken admission in B.Com honours at Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in New Delhi. Then, I will do an MBA from some top college of the country after gaining one-year work experience following graduation from the college,” he said.

Kumar said: “It is just like a dream come true for me as I was badly in need of a computer but was not buying it because of its hefty price. Now I am determined to do more hard work and bring more laurels to the city. I owe my success to my parents and teachers.”

There are over 100 government schools in Chandigarh which are sought after among students from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. The overall pass percentage of government schools here was 85.09 percent for Class 12 while the pass percentage of model schools for Class 10 was 88.95 percent in 2007-08.

“To my knowledge, it is for the first time that any government of this country has awarded the toppers of public schools with such a valuable prize as a laptop. Such a gesture of our education department will certainly encourage students to work harder,” R.K. Sharma, principal of GMSSS-16, told IANS.apple-macbook-air-case
